Pickleball in Bogalusa, Louisiana

Bogalusa players have their strongest established pickleball options south of town in St. Tammany Parish. Money Hill offers a polished private club experience near Abita Springs, while John Slidell Park provides a large free public complex in Slidell. These choices cover coaching, social groups, lighted courts, and major regional tournaments without relying on an uncertain local setup.

Where to Play Pickleball Near Bogalusa

Money Hill Golf and Country Club at 100 Country Club Drive in Abita Springs has eight lighted pickleball courts beside the pool. The hard court layout supports day and evening play, community groups, family games, and guest matches. Court use is a club amenity, so this option best suits members, their guests, and players attending public clinics or lessons.

John Slidell Park at 105 Robert Boulevard in Slidell is the best public alternative. The complex has 12 dedicated outdoor courts with permanent nets and free access. It is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with lights remaining on until 9:30 p.m. The large court count makes it suitable for casual doubles, group rotations, and tournament practice.

Pickleball Lessons and Beginner Play

Money Hill welcomes the public for clinics, group lessons, and private instruction even though regular court access is reserved for members and guests. Director of Racquets Wade Partridge is a PPR certified pickleball professional who teaches adults and juniors. Pickleball 101 gives beginners a structured introduction, while private and group sessions can focus on technique, positioning, and match strategy.

Cross Gates Family Fitness in Slidell also combines coaching, instructional drills, and open play across indoor and outdoor courts. It is useful for a beginner who wants to move directly from instruction into social games. Additional instructors can be found through the Coaches section.

Open Play, Leagues, and Events

Money Hill's community pickleball groups provide the most established club style play near Bogalusa, with lighted courts supporting both daytime and evening sessions. Cross Gates adds managed open play, mixers, and tournaments for players who prefer an indoor and outdoor fitness club setting.

The largest nearby public event is Pickle in the Dell at John Slidell Park. The 2026 tournament runs October 2 through 4 with singles, youth doubles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Adult divisions range from 3.0 through 4.0 and above, matches use round robin play followed by playoffs, and results are submitted to DUPR.

Visiting Bogalusa for Pickleball

A visitor should choose the destination that matches the trip. Money Hill is the closer club experience for a lesson, clinic, or guest match. John Slidell Park, about 43 miles south of Bogalusa, is the simplest choice for a traveling foursome because the courts are free, open daily, and equipped with permanent nets.

Bring outdoor balls, water, and sun protection for either location. Morning and evening are the most comfortable playing periods through much of the year, and both facilities have lighted courts. A solo visitor will have better prospects through a scheduled clinic, Cross Gates open play, or a tournament session than by arriving at a public court without partners.
